Here's a tune I wrote about a really old Irish Setter that used to live next door to the place I lived in right after getting out of college. More details can be found at the link. This is as close to Western Swing as I am ever gonna get (not very).

I have compensated my mixing to make normal reference music sound relatively OK to my ears. I had my hearing tested and I have moderate to severe loss above about 8 kHz. So I don't know what this sounds like to you people with good hearing, assuming there are any on this forum. Let me know if it's way too bright or way too dull. Just so you know, there is a high hat and ride cymbal in the drum part which should be audible but not overpowering.

Sorry saying this, and don't take it into account as a seasoned comment.

Main guitar is nice, but doesn't need to be so high on the mix, as it overshadows all the rest.

I almost can't hear rhythm section.
Rider swing is cool, as well as open Hi-hat stroke.

Maybe I would look for giving some more Air (silence) selecting certain spots for the steel (or whatever it is) to get prominence

    Melody is lovely !!

Hey you know there are a million ways to do this and I appreciate your input. I can easily redo it. Stay tuned for a different mix!

I took your suggestions to heart and removed a few of the more redundant sections and took the leads down about 6 dB and minimized the arrangement a bit especially in the first half. I think it's better! I really need a producer.

In my end I would definitely like the bass louder, other than that I love the song.

Muito obrigado! You must be a bass player. More bass! LOL I'll give it a try.

    De nada!

At least I'm not a cow bell player :D
No bass player here just a wannabe guitarist, but in my opinion if there's a bass in the mix I really like to hear it
