Most guitars on reverb are way overpriced imho.
I’ll repeat it again because I haven’t in a while , but it remains statistically inescapable :
This price increase is a blip.
Not enough Gen Z/millennials who -
1.) want instruments for any reason
2.) have any disposable cash to buy instruments
- to absorb all the instruments (especially vintage) that are currently owned by boomers/older Gen X’ers that will soon flood the market due the passing of/impending passing of all us geezers.
Lots and lots of instruments (including niche “types” of instruments like fine acoustic archtops that hold little to no interest for younger folks) entering the open market where the only buyers are people that have no interest in :
Hendrix, Clapton , Page, Beck, Django, Clarence White, Bill Monroe, CSN or Y, Bloomfield, Bonamassa , etc, etc, etc…
Anecdotal evidence of your nephew being into guitar doesn’t mean there is the same percentage of kids picking up an instrument now as there were 20/30/40/50 years ago.
And - the thing that occupies a large amount of their time each day didn’t exist in any of those past decades either.
