I found the code for my DRII pan, but no one stocks that exact pan (Accutronics 8AB3C1B).

Stock it is supposed to be 3 spring 9 inch pan.

The closest thing on mojo is the 8AB2A1B, which has medium decay instead of long, and the input is grounded rather than insulated.

The cab will fit a 17 inch pan, and luckily the Accutronics 3 spring 17 incher has the same impedence as the three spring 9 incher, which means I can sub in a medium decay (9AB2C1B) or long decay (9AB3C1B) in the 17 inch 3 spring format.

What is going to be the difference between the three spring 9 inch vs three spring 17 inch?

Is there a standard decay time (medium vs long) for the "fender sound"?

What I am afraid of is ending up with some unusually massive reverb like the Crate V18.

Are you sure the standard DRRI size is the short tank? I had a DRII and a BFDR, don't remember the DRII having a shorter tank. On the size thing, the full size one will sound better. At least it does to me. The vintage amps all came with 2 spring long decay. My taste runs more to 3 spring, medium decay. There is no right answer here ... it's what sounds better to you.

All of the two spring tanks create an impedence mismatch, otherwise I would be considering them as options.

As far as I can tell, the DRII and all the Rivera designed Fenders take a "8AB2C1B" which seem to be pretty rare and much closer to the mesa reverb tank.

I dont have a clue what the DRRI takes.

Both the 2 and 3 spring tanks are available in the proper impedance for a DRRI, both long and medium delay.

4AB2C1B: 2 springs, medium delay
4AB3C1B: 2 springs, long delay
9AB2C1B: 3 springs, medium delay
9AB3C1B: 3 springs, long delay

The "A" in the second position signifies 8 ohm input impedance, which is what you want for the transformer-driven DRRI.

The AB actually signify different impedance's in the 4 and the 9. 4A is 8 ohm, 9A is 10 ohm. I'm looking for the DRII, not the RI, and it wants 10ohm. not saying the 8 ohm wont work, its just not the spec. The B values are also different for 4's and 9's.
