That's a bummer. I liked his ridiculous sense of humor. R.I.P.
RIP and thanks for all the laughs. Peace to your family and friends.
This is a bit of a shock. Way too young, RIP.
So sad and completely unexpected. Norm was a true comedy genius. His appearance at the Bob Sagat Roast may be the finest example of his oddball anti-comedy sensibilities. The audience is almost completely dumbfounded while the comedians on stage are in tears.
Thanks for the yucks Norm. No one ever did Burt Reynolds better!
One of my favorite "Norms:" And in music news, number one on the college charts this summer was Better Than Ezra. And at number two? Ezra. (9/30/95)
That set was outstanding!
Sad. He's been one of my favorite comedians for a long time. RIP.
Norm was my favorite comedian ever!
Examples (there's LOTS more!)
rest easy Norm. Glad you aren't suffering any more. Thanks for the laughs.
That was his 'thing,' coming up with stuff that really caught you off guard,
the guy ( in comedy) who did not stick to the ' enough time has passed...' to tell jokes about an event; nothing out-of-bounds
Sad to hear. RIP Norm.
He had a pair. He never let OJ off the hook. Even after SNL execs kept telling him to stop.
Norm had a great delivery, you were laughing inside before he spoke a word. RIP.
Another very sad day. RIP Norm. You deserve a better place.
The guy was hilarious! Loved him playing Tommy Lee on SNL, and "Little Chubby" on My Name is Earl.
That guy didn’t give a rip and I loved that
What everyone else has said, plus (most importantly) the fact that he was Just A Good Guy. He supported people trying to make it in comedy, and went out of his way to do so. I know, because some of those people are my friends. I met him at a local Comedy Night in a bar. I was watching my buddy’s set, and heard a loud laugh from the next table. It was Norm. He congratulated each performer as they came off stage. He was a mensch.
Absolutely, I can just look at him and smile if not laugh. Awesome comedian.
norm was great RIP
This hit me hard. A shared Canadian and American treasure. I love the story about Artie Lange complaining about a review of Dirty Work that said Artie had all the charm of a date rapist. He called Norm and Norm was like, "oh man that's great." Artie asked, "what?" and Norm replied, "see the date rapist has to have charm to get them to go out on a date, that's great Artie."
