    Hi,

I've just finished my first DIY project on a used and abused Tele and thought I'd give a show and tell!

Originally it had been modified beyond recognition, so I only kept the really nice neck, tuners and body.

Now with new Lindy Fralin Blues Special Pickups, Armadillo brass hardware, Emerson 4-Way pre-wired kit and hand made, 2 mm etched and aged copper pickguard ( Art meets Science ) :)

I'm pleased with the result given it's original condition and tone. Now it has great, big, wet tone, long sustain I think from the heavier brass hardware ( a little bit less Twang ) and is really quiet.

Anyway's any comments or feedback welcome!

That's cool, I love the brass. It will get better looking over time as it develops some patina. I bought a few things from Armadillo; great stuff. Does this one have a brass neck plate?

very fine work! Ordinarily not a fan of brass on a tele, but you've made it work very well. It's also interesting to hear of a custom shop tele getting so much abuse, but it takes all flavors.

I was trying to puzzle out the designs on your pickguard and also see that you're from Australia. Any particular significance in the designs, or what?

    cheers!

Thanks. Yes, Michael from Armadillo was excellent with his advice, workmanship and service. Nothing was too much trouble. Probably stick with the original CS neck plate.

Thanks. In the end it was a great opportunity to start with some good wood and then have some fun.

Some friends and I designed and made 4 pickguards out of the copper sheet. This is my artwork using random original alchemy symbols. Here are the 4 designs -

Nice work. You should be proud. You made the brass and copper look good on that tele.
