I have a Club model Miata and I think the stock speakers can be bettered with no head change. I'm considering door and tweeter replacements from Focal or JBL. Has anyone does this on the standard unit (not the Bose upgrade)? What did you install and how is it to live with?

I haven't considered car audio since the 1980s.
    Don't really keep up.
Ihaven't heard it discussed much here.

I’m a car audio installer and enthusiast from way back, and although I don’t have any direct experience with your car, I would pick Focal any day over JBL. Nothing wrong with JBL, but Focal is just superb.

A couple of Canabis Rex’s helps tame the high end I hear. :D

Early Miatas could be upgraded with Polk db651 speakers. I'm not sure which year Club you have.
Here's a link to everything you'd ever want to know about Miata audio.
Also a great site for Miata's in general.
