I found one of these at my Grandpa's house when I'm was a kid. I don't think it belonged to my dad, but one of his brothers. It was rad.

Who remembers Vertibird?

As a kid, I didn't know this toy existed until my dad gave me one. Then he gave me all kinds of advice on making rescues with it, using weird words like "cyclic" and "collective". He'd done it for real in the Coast Guard.

Yeah, I had one .... I broke it fairly quickly. I think I snapped the handle off the crank part from going mental on it trying to make it go as fast as possible.

The other similar toy I had was a helicopter with a pull cord handle, got it for Christmas, went to the beach Boxing Day to try it out ... pulled the cord (which snapped off) and the helicopter smashed down and broke the blades.

I had the stunt cycle. A gear inside the cranking mechanism eventually broke and I resorted to just seeing how far I could throw Evel with his helmet on!

Me too but he was very, very lucky to have lived through that jump.
