Years ago when I first started playing guitar I ordered a lefty, the shop gave me an SG to use as a loner in the meantime. The finish was totally sanded off & by the time I returned it the sweat stains were horrible, all black & ingrained into the wood.

So I started wondering about these aged/ reliced guitars. Do these worn 'aged' areas get treated with anything by the mfg. like a sealer or is it simply bare wood?

    A loaner, maybe?

It wouldn't surprise me if they left out a protective coat in order to accelerate the aging process of the guitar.
