The only person I'd try to talk out of a pair of Red Wings is Anna Nydstrom... :)

Probably 11, but I've never tried any red wings on. That's taking into account that they run large and I should get a 1/2 size smaller than normal.

    You looking to sell?

Rangers are terrific boots - I have four different pair. As mentioned - they size a 1/2 to a full size small, so try them on before you buy them.
As for complaints about Red Wings being hard to break in - they're a mans boot, so you need to have man feet. Hipsters take heed... :)

I’ve owned exactly one pair of redwings.
    I don’t want any more.
Lace up steel toe mid height all leather heavy clunky work boots.
No goretex so my feet were always wet.
Spent about $160 on them 15 years ago.

I loved everything about them...in the box.

In real life the leather “gathered” in such a way that they bit my Achilles’ tendon every time I extended my foot. Like when I pointed my toes down. Or walked.
I tried for months to get them to quit. Mink oil, neats foot oil, stretching etc.
    Nope.
I gave them to my favorite ex brother in law.

Well, I bought a pair of iron rangers in May this year. I normally wear 9-9.5 vans etc, and I had to get a 7.5 in the iron rangers. It took about 2 months for me to get passed blistered heels, wearing them 8-5 at work. I went on Amazon and bought some strapping tape to help with that. worked good. Even still today, they still feel firm and sturdy. Not the most comfortable shoes. But I didn't buy them to be comfortable, I bought them to support an American company, american made product, that should last me 10 years.

Also, just to add. I came from wearing a pair of Dr martens 8085 at work. costed me 120 bucks, they lasted about 3 years until they completely started falling apart. You can immediately tell the difference in the quality.

    Oh yeah, treat yourself.

I love mine....and they're the only footwear I've ever had that a good looking woman I didn't know, stopped and told me when I was lacing them up, "I love your boots!" :)

Dang, I’m more like a size 9 1/2-10. Definitely get fitted because I ended up with a size 8 1/2

Well the Iron Rangers are ugly and don’t look like they have any support for your feet. Many here said they were uncomfortable.
How is that for trying to talk you out of them?

    Dangit. Thanks for trying!

I'm really getting sucked down the rabbit hole. By the time I get to the red wing store on Saturday, I'll be asking to try different "lasts" and not caring as much about the models.

I wear a 10 usually. My Iron Rangers are 9.5 and fit fine.

There are a huge number of YouTube evaluations of Iron Rangers and other boots. Apparently, fashion-conscious Young men now like boots.

My first pair of Red Wings were Iron Rangers and I wore them right down to the nubbins.

I currently have 3 pairs of Red Wings. I broke in a new pair about a year ago this time and did it by wearing them a few hours at a time at home before I wore them out all day. The leather is thick and hard but when they are broke in and fit your foot well they are worth the breaking in period.

they could look very cool after you walk 100 miles in the rain and they get "a face" (wrinkles, distressing, wear out).
New, they look a little girly...avantegard-ish
