Recording- & mixing-wise, how was this (mostly live) magic made?

Such a great recording, I think. Clear, resonant. How can one record a live performance this well? What were the mic'ing, EQing, mixing, etc., tricks used here? As always, mic'ing the drums right is crucial. How does that seem to have been done?

Apparently, the (gorgeous) electric mandolin (or is that another guitar?) part was added post-performance. (As perhaps was the left-speaker-focused tremolo-heavy second guitar.) So another issue here is how to so seamlessly weave in a part like that? You leave an EQ space for it--how?

    Thanks!

Probably recorded by Bear is the best explanation.

This has some info...Grisman played mandolin, Betty Cantor-Jackson recorded it. She was the best at live recordings.

As for "how", she has a FaceBook page. Maybe she answers questions.

I think Tom Fogerty and Dave Grisman play on this.

Really sounds like a few Direct Input devices being used
and not over hyped AR mics.

That could get you there recording wise.
Plus, there's no real distortion on any instruments
    to speak of.

That snare drum is haunting and that crash cymbal
both share a nice shelf on the top end.
