I have the Road Runner 5 guitar regular case-looking one that MF shows as discontinued.

http://www.stylefeeder.com/i/4w2gvrq9/Road-Runner-5-Space-Guitar-Stand-Case-Black

It's cheap and kind of flimsy, but seems to work OK for me since I don't move around much and have 5 instruments...

It holds the guitars securely, I worry less than when I use regular stands.

It's more easily portable than the PVC ones when I do move it...

For the price, I'm happy, although I'd rather have paid a bit more for better materials

The problem is, if I buy one of those, I will certainly get one that has more slots than I have guitars.

Then I will need to buy guitars to fill the slots.

Not sure that will be good for my GAS. :)

I use a 5 position "Rockstand" from Warwick, it looks a lot like the "Prostand" in the musicians friend link above.
it works for me, it's always full, it never gets folded.

Helcules Stands grip the guitar by the nut. Safe stands. Love 'em

I like the single Hercules stands....I have three of them.....super safe....

At $28 each I would buy three or four of these.

Single Hercules Linky

How they grab the headstock is key......

I have two of the ProLine PLMS7 7-Guitar Folding Stands that you linked to in your OP. I use one in my office and one in my garage studio. They've cleared up a huge amount of space.

The one in the road case looks a bit iffy, because in my experience you need to put the guitars at more of an angle that it appears to allow. I also like to be able to have my electrics on there with the cord still plugged in, and that also doesn't appear to be doable with the road case stand.

I also have the ProLine 7-guitar stand you linked to.

It's an economical use of space, but best for solid bodied guitars. It's a slightly tight squeeze for most acoustics and basses, but it's fine as long as you're careful. It's quite well made and very stable.

My expensive guitars (Ric, Martin, Gibson) get their own individual Hercules though.

Build one. There are plans online, like for the one in my signature pic.

Hmmm, here is a better pic. It took about $2 worth of wood, a few nails, some glue, a little stain, and clear coat:

I use the Warwick "Rockstand". Had it going on eleven years now, still in great shape. Mostly it lives in the house, but I have taken it out to gigs quite a bit too over the years. Highly recommended.

Rondo Music has one that my bands uses. http://www.rondomusic.com/gsc2206.html

It's like the RoadRunner case mentioned previously, only $80, and about 1/3 the cost of the fender version!

I've reinforced the stand section with heavier hinges that are riveted in place, because the stock hinges eventually loosen from the constant setup and breakdown, but overall it's a great, stable way to rack a lot of guitars, esp. if you're not moving it around a lot. Much more stable than an open, tube style stand with no way to lock the necks in place.

The bottom section dividers are moveable too, and can be glued in place for even more stability. Well worth the $80.

Hercules. Period. The end.

After decades of seeing guitars fall off supposedly stable stands, I bought a Hercules and now will never put my guitars in anything else--especially for live gigs.

Are the Proline stands safe for a nitro finish? I have been thinking about getting something so I can keep a few more electrics out, instead of sitting in their cases.

I stumbled onto this type of stand at least 12 years back. It looked good, compact, versatile AND it's solid bar stock welded together. You can stand on it and it doesn't bend. Holds hollows, solids, banjos, acoustics....
I bought the one that holds 4. I liked it so much I bought 3 more and then the one that holds 5. They have been in constant use ever since. It truly is "The Last Stand" you'll need to buy. The only place I can find them is here:

Here are some action shots... okay, no action, but shots none the less.

I have 3 nitro finished guitars that regularly occupy space in my ProLine stand and I've never had any problems.

There are many different types of nitro though.

I am giving this one a try for now. It is a bit different than the first one I linked to, and the one I got only holds 3, but they have one that holds 6.

I've got the circular kind (ProLine). $60 at GC. I was actually wanting the straight rack model, but I let the guy at GC talk me into this circular one - he said it saves space and you can put it in a corner.. True, I guess, but I still wish I had gotten the non-circular one now. Oh well, guess they needed to get rid of these... ha

It's not too bad, though..

I have a couple of the Warwick Rokstands and they are great. I have had them for about 10 years and they still hold up.

I really don't like the poor quality of the Proline stuff.
