Well, I've got this record collection...

But at this time of year, this time in the fall, before the winter snows send us "slippin' and slidin," I find myself listening to Bob Dylan's New Morning. One of the few albums I'll sit through and just listen first cut to last. Comfort music. Released in October of '70, maybe that's why it's a preferred album this time of year. Yeah, what's old is new again.

!. A couple of Dylan albums mentioned but my all time favorite is Blood on the Tracks.
    2. In honor of Charlie Pride's Lifetime Achievement award- Live at Panther Hall. Simple line up but Lloyd Green on pedal steel is awesome!

    Cold Fact by Rodriguez

I became aware of Rodriguez from the Documentary Searching for Sugarman. Watch it, I highly recommend it. Rodriguez is an American singer songwriter that had two albums that never picked up in the US but he became bigger than Elvis in South Africa.

Anyway, at one point in the documentary, there's a guy that basically says that if you went into any middle class home with a record player in South Africa, you'd find three albums. Abbey Road, Bridge over Troubled Water, and Cold Fact by Rodriguez. I really love the album. So when I listen to it I like to listen to it from the point of view that this is one of the great albums in history and we just missed out on having it. Kinda makes me sad to think about it.

My dad heard me playing it one day while I was working out in the shop and he asked if it was Bob Dylan. I told him the story and said he was pretty impressed by his songs.

I really loved his “Between Friends” album, which was produced by Chips Moman.

Early Miles Quintet--Relaxin', Cookin', etc--is one of the all-time greatest bands.

The rhythm section is so cool and swings so hard--love it.

Played this at work today. Had been itching to hear it for a few days. I think it has been over 15 years since I last played it. Still holds up, and I don't know why I waited so long.
