You can sing "Pinball Wizard" to the tune of "Folsom Prison Blues" and it works.

The other way 'round works too, but isn't as much fun.

You just needed a fella in the band who can pull it off

i don't know how to play anything well, not from beginning to end. but I have been engaged for awhile in learning to play "Buckaroo" correctly, all the way through. that will give you an idea of how advanced a player I am. Which is to say, not much.

I'm doing the same thing! It's slow going thus far but very fun.

I had always thought there was some "trick" to it or something, but it's actually very straightforward! basically, if you can play a 1st position D chord, you can play buckaroo. there's more to it, but not much.

How are you on "wipeout", DL?

My go-to is usually “Ghost Riders in the Sky” or the Bond theme.

haha, it's funny you mention Wipeout - I have a Ventures guitar songbook and I am working on wipeout here and there at about half speed trying to hit all the right notes!

Here are two songs that you can sing and play at a pool party, around the campfire, almost anywhere that will always be liked. Desperado. I play it in C. It works within my vocal range. I play it in a very piano like finger style. Another is “Have You Ever Seen the Rain “ played at a very relaxed tempo like Willie Nelson. I’ve got a good solo and guitar outro for it. These two work equally well on acoustic and electric.

Acoustic or electric and solo isn’t too hard. And everybody knows it as soon as you play those opening notes.

"OH WELL" by Peter green. With a play well caveat. I'm pretty good with the whole thing.... Not absolute note for note but neither was he...lol.
