BEFORE YOU BUY SOMETHING ELSE: The exact same thing happened to my Bose Soundlink Mini II in March. I went to the Bose website looking for a replacement battery. They no longer made the replacement battery. Instead, Bose gave me a great deal - they let me trade my non-functional Soundlink Mini II + a small amount of money for a brand new SoundLink Max Portable, which is maybe even better than the Soundlink Mini II.

One of the best consumer experiences I've ever had. I'm a Bose fan for life!

I’m definitely gonna try this. Thanks.

I just bought a Soundlink Flex (I think) earlier this year. This was my first Bose purchase, ever. It was on sale at Coscto, otherwise I probably wouldn't have gone for something relatively premium, for a bluetooth speaker.

Anyway, if/when it dies because the battery will no longer hold a charge, I'll try to remember to go to the Bose website and trade mine in.

Edited to add - pretty sure this was the one that I got:

That’s pretty cool! I am going to look into that! Thanks!

I would roll the dice on the JBL of your choice. I just got this tiny JBL GO 4 (3.7 x 3.0 x 1.7") as a gift and I am SHOCKED by the quality of the sound. It's $49. The bass for something so small is stunning. I would not hesitate trying one of their larger models.

I use the Clip 4 all the time when working . . . phone in back pocket, speaker clipped to belt loop. For stationary sound in the garage, the Flip 6 has a big sound.

I have 2 Flip 4's that I use in the shop or out of the house. 1 of them I found laying the middle of the road leaving work one day. A great thing about these is that they can be linked to play together and they have great bettery life.

They have a big sound for such a little speaker.

I am no expert on this field, actually I wouldn't have a clue if I wasn't on a garden party, and one of the guests, who normally is the music provider on these event wouldn't have brought along one of these, about what I don't know anything, not even specs, but it blew our collective socks off.

$1000 for the entry-level speaker, which is what you were listening to.

The battery in my Bose Mini Soundlink just died. I don’t know if the battery can be replaced, because it looks like a sealed unit. Even if it’s replaceable, I think that I’m ready for an upgrade.

This speaker gave me great service for about 10 years.

My only complaint is that it was difficult to get it on the charger station. I had to fiddle with it almost every time to get the charging indicator light to come on.
That being said, I would like one that plugs directly into an outlet if they are available.

Other than that, I don’t have any other requirements. I am leaning towards Bose again, but if there is something better, I would consider it.

I don’t have a budget per se. Just want something that will sound better than what I have.
If you are thinking of a Bose REVOLVE or something in that price range, I would just do this instead. Your wife will never know you've bought another guitar gadget:

Subaru of America sent me a free one after complaining that my car came with summer tires in the middle of winter and I almost crashed the thing going from the dealership to the tire shop. So pro tip, buy a WRX in December and you might score a free one.

I think the Oontz Angle 3 is pretty good, my wife has one at the shop that does well.

Well, no wonder it had the described effect on us. Its capabilities are reflected in its pricing.
The last time I had such a surprising music listening experience was in the '80s, when in a hi-fi showroom the clreck put on Donald Fagen's Nightfly through a pair of Mission studio speakers.

I didn't read all of the replies...

Amazon has replacement batteries for the Mini Sound-Link. If you like the sound, it's the cheapest alternative.

I replaced the battery in my VERY OLD Bose stereo speaker. It still sound great (IMO)!

SONOS Move. Bluetooth and WiFi. Play it in the kitchen, by the pool or take it along to your next burn.
