What's the cheapest best delay pedal that does all of this:
    • Analog
    • Tap Tempo
    • Dotted 8th setting in addition to regular quarter note
I generally use delay for just a real short slap, but I'd like to try some more complicated stuff.

I know there's not a "right" answer, but I don't know what's out there. I've just had a carbon copy forever....

Digitech Obscura is a good one...

EDIT: I believe the Obscura is actually digital, not analog. Whoops, sorry.

The dotted 8th kills the "cheap" part.
Way Huge Supa Puss and DOD Rubberneck if you can find it used are your best bets.
If dotted 8th isn't important try the amazing Ibanez Echo shifter

+1 for the supa puss. They can be priced okay used if you’re patient.

I have mine hooked to an expression pedal for some weird goodness.

    It sounds great.

If by “Analog” you mean that it can be digital, but has to have an “analog/bucket brigade” setting, I recommend without hesitations the TC Electronics Flashback.

JHS Panther Cub - look on eBay or Reverb for a prior version - the larger form factor is cheaper

    Hope this helps.

The EHX Canyon Delay would work well too.

    Simultaneous dotted eighth and quarter?
TC Flashback. Also analog. Also tap tempo.

Tap Tempo is a digital function.

The Obscura is digital, but it cops analog delay (and other sounds) rather well. It also has a "degrade" control that lets you dial in the degree to which the delay type's particular quirks take over the signal as the repeats continue.

It also has tap tempo with dotted eighths. I've recently seen them around $70 on Reverb.

It is a great pedal. I have 2 of them.

A potential deal-breaker is the fact that you cannot turn the pedal off when in tap tempo mode. You have to first exit by holding the footswitch down for a second.

If the pedal is in a switchable loop it’s not a problem.

The obscura sounds really good - I had that and a Polara Reverb, also by Digitech, before they were sacrificed on the pedal store alter to obtain a Strymon Volante.

Used Obscura's are less than a benjamin.
