I have a CE-2 that i got off a TDPRI brother. I love it. Nothing else quite like it. But before that (and still occasionally) i used my old DOD. FX60 and FX65 & FX68 were all good choruses.
I have a really nice old silver screw CE-2 which is just heavenly sounding. My backup is the vastly underrated DOD FX65 which sounds beautiful in stereo. I've also had an Ibanez CS-9, but prefer the other two.

I did little research by muself. Harmony central reviews are good reference.
I had Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensable. It is top quality but I didn't like it. It is too sweet.
The reveiws on Harmony Central has Ibanes CS-9, and I will buy that one.

Personally , I wouldn't take a lot of notice of Harmony Central reviews .

I used to call it the 10 out of 10 site , as gear which I had tried or had in the past and thought it was rubbish would still get a string of 10's on Harmony .

Boss CH-1 Super Chorus ~ not a bad all purpose chorus, but a little dry sounding, and sometimes I'm not sure it likes every pickup it hears. Easy to get very small amounts of chorus, and easy to tweak.

Danelectro Cool Cat ~ 18v model ~ very organic sounding pedal but no EQ, likes whatever it hears without discriminating. Not as easy to get slight amounts of chorus...wants to lay it on thick.

If I had the best of both pedals I'd be happier.

I've been through a bunch of chorus pedals but the ones that really stuck with me were the Arion SCH-1 and SCZ-1.
Prices on the SCH-1 are going up but I found one of the SCZ-1 shorus pedal recently for $39. NOS.
These pedals also get the closest to a Leslie sound than any other chorus pedal I've tried.
Highly recommended!

You removed the goo? If you had ever watched The Antiques Roadshow you would know that you have killed the value of that pedal by at least 75%. That Guinness in the pedal was the life of it and should remain as testament to the history and use of the object.

Yep! No apologies for devaluing a rare antique!

To be honest, it also smelt of gigs and, not unsurprising, stale beer, so a good clean all over and inside and out with wet wipes and cotton buds and it looks like new.

And me a bit of a relic fan too!

I have an old Arion bass chorus pedal that I like when chorus is in order. don't use it much but it sounds better to my ear than a lot of choruses I've tried.

Out,
That's from the TS10 era ,Right? thanks for your info, I saw EHX has a new pedal, electric mistress, 118, both chorus and Flanger or mix both, interesting, What do you think of envelope filters, I'm a big Dead Head and it is one of Garcia's fave pedals, a Mutron Envelope Filter, I've opened a few but???, I have the comp I want, boost I want, you know, guyatone's chorus sounds good, but you know about those weird rubber grommets, must have been a sale
Jim
PS- Guyatone also has a highly rated DD

I don't have any experience with envelope filter pedals.

I had an impression many years ago that Uli Roth's solo on "Hell Cat" from the Scorpions' Virgin Killer CD used an envelope filter of some type along with a conventional wah, but wasn't sure. I thought of trying one on the basis of that solo, but I'm not certain if I ever actually did.

Yes, the DCL is from the 10-series era of Ibanez pedals.

Guyatone has been using those rubber grommets for a long time. I saw Guyatone pedals in stores in Japan in the '90s. Getting back to the envelope filter topic, Guyatone had an Stevie Salas model. It was purple. Thought to try it while I was there, again, I never got around to it.

I've tried about 6 different boxes (Ibanez, Boss, Voodoo Labs, Deluxe Memory Man set up as a chorus, Digitech, and TC), finally setteled on the Analogman chorus (with the deep switch). Really nice sound, wide range in both the sweep and depth, and the deep switch adds a nice lower dimension to the tone:

CE-2B - a better CE-2 for half the price??

I would love to get my hands on Boss CE-2. I've come close 3 times of getting one.

I have made this recommendation before but I think it bears repeating...

The Boss CE-2B is the same circuit as the CE-2 but with an extra knob labelled effect level which is effectively a low end bypass to give more focus to the bottom end while chorusing the higher frequencies. You can set the effect level so it is actually the same circuit as the CE-2.

The early ones are made in Japan and have a collar round the base of the knobs - I have no idea if the later ones sound any different but for those who want a bit of kudos on the cheap - they sell for half the price of a CE-2 yet its the same circuit plus a variable bass bypass control. If you don't bypass the bass end they sound the same.

I have owned a vintage CE-2 and it sounded identical to me so I sold it and kept the far cheaper but arguably better CE-2B. The only thing you have to get over is it says "Bass Chrorus" so you are breaking the rules plugging your tele in :) and isn't painted blue...

If you can read schematics spot the difference

The CE-2 and CE-2B are great analog chorus pedals BTW. I like to use just a touch of chorus so you don't get it 'in your face' but it sounds 'different'.

I can not recommend you a chorus pedal, but my favourite chorus sound comes from a flanger, the Ibanez(or Maxon)FL-9. Just ignore the pots on the right hand side, use the two on the left. Never heard anything better.

Wow,
just listened to the you tube demo of EHX small Clone, very lush, shimmering chorus, and analog cheap, I think that's the way to go
