This thread just keeps on giving. Tigger, I think we are all justifiably in awe of this project. You’re a wizard, a true star.

Thanks, I'm afraid you are but too kind!

I also now think that the tenon cover is not an original part. It is from some particularly nasty plastic and large and irregular. I had to sand it back to shape so that it fits the new (smaller) gap and everything is square and sensible as opposed to strangely asymmetric before.

Just think, that SG could be around in another 50-60 years because of the OP’s generosity and skills.
I think that on the underside of the control cavity cover, I’d give a short history of what condition the guitar was in when you got it, what year the restoration was completed.
That kind of provenance should be past along for any future owner.
That’s definitely a player grade guitar, and what a player it is.
I can just look at the set up and see that everything is as it should be, the neck looks fast, and you even saved the nibs!
You deserve the accolades and recognition for such a great restoration, but also documenting and sharing to experience with the rest of us.
    Much Respect!

I'm still waiting for the missing pot to wire it up! And working on the setup. I finished cutting the nut and will need to sand down the top so that the slots aren't very deep.

The provenance if this guitar is substantial. I can’t wait to hear it.

You have the proverbial "patience of Job". Impressive work. Many would have abandoned that guitar.

    Final nut filing:

New pot in. I decided not to touch the other wiring even if the parts that look non-original.

The rear cover is perhaps not original? It's rather thin:

    I think it's done!

I'll post more photos and hopefully a soundclip after this weekend!
