Freebird. Yeah, I said it. I like playing the solos.
Like them both but favor Rebel Yell just a bit more. Agree with Eyes Without a Face sentiment too.
White Wedding by a mile. I appreciate this song more every time I hear it. Just so well done. The bass, the multiple guitar parts -- all of it.
Woah yeah! Like he walked into his own studio and did everything that was in his head. He has command of the instrument.
Even the "I walk the walls f'you babe (babe, babe)" part?
Best Billy Idol video was his 1984 interview on David Letterman. Hilarious!!
I saw him about 4 years ago and he was great! I forgot how many great songs he had, plus the new material was pretty good too. It was a sold out show and exceeded my expectations.
I have to say that I prefer Rebel Yell - it's a lot more fun to play!
How many of you were aware of this campaign Billy did for New York City last year?
I play Rebel Yell the rock variety band I'm in. People dig it, and also we do it well. The guitar intro is a real attention getter.
In the other band I'm in we play LA Woman, but based on Billy Idol's cover which has a great temp and drive.
Rebel Yell isolated guitar(s) and space effect...
"Dancing with Myself" is the one ring to rule them all.
Sweat! Sweat! Sweat!
When I was signed to Warners, my producer told me about a time he did a Billy Idol remix and Stevens showed up with the space gun. He made him put it back in the case and established a 'no space gun' rule for the session.
i agree. take it out behind the barn and shoot it.
I have the white 12” White Wedding vinyl, and it has part 1! (Sounds just like part 2.) The album has part 2 only.
White Wedding wins!
Between the two, "White Wedding", strictly b/c I think Steve Stevens playing is a lot stronger in that song.
One of the few 80’s artists I really like...
Both have killer Intros and Billy Idol
just brings so much fun energy to a song.
But I'm going with White Wedding with the 'Western Showdown' meets Surf chord progression.
Rebel Yell by a long shot for me.
Fixed it for ya, Torch.
I love both of those tracks, but if I was forced to choose I'd go with Rebel Yell, actually. It's one of my faves to sing, too.
Overall, I think I slightly prefer WW - although I think Billy's vocal on RY is better.
Hard to watch the WW video without seeing a revved up Adam Ant in my mind's eye.
