Well wishes for your wife for a complete recovery and for you for the strength to help her through that recovery. I’m saddened to hear of your ordeal.

Good vibes sent to her and you. This has happened to me, twice, with the remaining deficit being very minimal tingling/weakness in my left arm when I'm overly caffinated. I hope for the recovery and the the same outcome for your wife.

Hang in there. Best thoughts and wishes beamed your way.

There may be a silver lining. If she got good medical attention within an hour or two of the stroke, there is a good chance for a good recovery. I have known one guy that had a stroke and recovered pretty well. My mother had a subdural hematoma and recovered 99% (she was lucky to have survived and the prognosis was that she would be paralyzed and possibly not able to do any basic ambulatory function). Anything related to head/brain can be very scary for all involved. Please do hang in there and be willing to roll with the punches for a while. The good news is the science with brain healing/recovery has become quite good compared to the bad old days. I am hoping that the everything gets back to something approaching normal for you ASAP.

In one trip to the hospital I was fretting about everything going on and wondering if my family member would recover, when, how well, .. the (fantastic) ER Doc said 'don't worry, she is right where she needs to be'. You may have to take a step back and let 'the system' do it's thing. Stay involved, be around to ask questions, and be around for your wife and talk to her -- even if the response is tepid or confusing. Show up (be seen, let her know you are with her) and talk to her < that made the biggest difference for us. I know, I've repeated the obvious. But, those things really make a huge difference.

Please do remember to take care of yourself.
