When Ceriatones got traction, Andy Fuchs griped loudly and publicly that he was being ripped off...after he himself was doing his own ripping off. Hilarious.

That was Bruce's shop, Guitar Exchange (across the road from Bills Music). I mention this because I played the buckskin suede ODS 100 piggyback he had in there. It sounded good, but not $50,000 (price tag) good.

I've been lucky enough to play though both an SSS and an OD, the SSS for several hours. They sounded good, but if I absolutely needed to have that sound I'd get a Fuchs. My Boogie MK IV is plenty versatile enough for me.

Regardless, it was still Nik that got it to the masses David and not The Guys at the amp garage. Nik put skin on the line.
But still, I’d rather have an Excelsior!!!
    Or a Supro Thunderbolt too.

IMHO - the only thing worth 100K in The Music Business
is perhaps Wes Montgomery’s Gibson L-5 and only because
it belonged to Wes not because of anything else.

Charlie Christian’s ES-150...maybe if it was the one from Kansas City.
    T-Bone Walker’s ES-5 maybe...
The “Secret Agent Man” ES-335 that too.

But an Amplifier at that price? No way.

Question : where does the informations at www.theampgarage.com com from ? o_O

Yes. And he's not alone at ampgarage mafia... Sorry, I don't like them too much, I must confess.

    But it's me, OK ? :D

I decided to built my own Dumble-like amplifier. I bought the two main boards from Nik@ceriatone (their quality is premium, so why hassle to built them, then ?), I got his matching schematic, then I studied and modded the circuit to my taste to built my Serial Tone Killer... ;)

From guys getting access to amplifiers, dissecting and documenting them, and sharing that information on the forum.

I suppose it's similar to industrial espionage.

But my point was that Ceriatone is capitalizing on sleuth work that was done by others.

This is exactly why I have a set of chrome lug nuts that fit a buddy's GMC (I have a Ford) right now.

A body of knowledge is often built by the accumulated efforts of many sources...but not always.

Are we sure that nobody else was rich enough to buy and disassemble one?

Is it true that Dumble covered some of the electronics in silicon goop that would void the warranty if you took it apart to verify the values of the electronics?
I could swear that I have seen pictures of that...?

Amazing what they go for. I played one at Lark Street Music. Like most amps they are not for everyone even if they were priced so normal people can afford. Give me a Bassman or Brown Deluxe.
