Raven West Guitars company makes great LOOKING guitars and they get pretty good reviews, but their website looks like it was designed as an Eagle Scout patch project, with some guitars having prices (very reasonable prices) and others mysteriously being shown sans price.

Anybody have one? What do you think? What do you know about them?

Scuttlebutt appreciated.

Boy, some of those look beautiful! I like the spalted Tele, and the "lizard quilt" finish! Who could get their hands around that 7 string bass, maybe Shaquille O'neal?

I have owned a beautiful blue Raven RP350 for six or seven years. It's the PRS-style solid body with two humbuckers and a 24-fret neck. Basically, it's a great substitute for a Korean Epiphone Les Paul, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was made in the same factory. The fretwork is good, and the pickups are decent.

I consider selling this guitar frequently because I have others that I use for the dual humbucker thing, but my wife always whines whenever I mention it. She doesn't want me to sell it because she thinks it's my "prettiest" guitar.

My jam partner got a lefty neck-through Tele-style Raven West, and he loves it. He broke the plastic jack plate, and wasn't happy about that, but he otherwise loves the guitar.

nice looking, nice pricebut hows the quality?

Mine is older and made in Korea, and the quality is fine. A lot of the parts are similar or identical to my Korean Ibanez Artstar or a Korean Epiphone. I'm not in a position to comment on the quality of the current ones, but I can't imagine that they'd be any worse than the older ones. For a few hundred bucks for an interesting guitar, I think they're worth a gamble. How much are you going to lose if you sell it?

I had an original "Raven". It was a modified double cutaway, H-S-S, with a two octave neck, and a Floyd. Needless to say that after I set it up properly, it turned into my main stage axe. Oh yeah, the carved top was a definite plus! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
