Every time I've pondered a refin I find ReRanch shut down for various reasons. I've used Stewmac's clear and aged clear but never a specific color like blonde.

Any opinions on the SM version, or insight into when ReRanch will be back up?

    Thanks

ReRanch appears to be up for me, at least the product selection is anyway.

I've never refinished a guitar so have no input there. That said, the StewMac products that I've bought have been good quality, but there have been quite a few that I haven't bought because of a significant price difference.

ReRanch is up, but soon as you put anything in your cart a pop up states they're closed to catch up on orders. Been that way for a while.

I didn't like stewmacs blonde. I started out a Tele with it then stripped it and went with reranch vintage cream. Does reranch make a blonde? I'm like you that they seem to be closed every time I need something.

Stewmac Blonde kind of just tan blah. The pictures might make it look white, but it isn't.

Reranch vintage cream. Very much a banana pudding color.

Edit: I guess Reranch does have a blonde. So I guess I should revise my earlier statement to say I don't like blonde. I'd guess stewmac and Reranch would be pretty similar. For clear I always buy from stewmac because I get free shipping.

They might be away for a while I’m not sure what ingredient it is that isn’t coming in

But the spray paint shelves are emptying at the Home Depot/Lowe’s, hear it’s the same in other locations

I’m not trying to fear monger just an observation

    Mohawk on Amazon.

Blonde for (White) Blonde or Starcast Amber for Butterscotch Blonde.

Mohawk colors are fantastic, especially when you shoot their Tone Finish Clear Gloss on top. It levels out nicely and dries really fast -- between two and 72 hours, depending on a bunch of variables.

Their touch-up products are designed for use on-site at a customer's home, so fast drying with no sanding is a major priority. Fumes and overspray are minimal as well.

That was my first thought when I saw the thread.

    Great title for an album.

Do they have a full range of color in a spray can or just the four I am seeing on their site.

My catalog shows 69 opaque Mohawk colors, 24 dye-based transparent toners, and 96 pigment-based toners.

IIRC, Stewmac Blonde is more about the mid- to late-50's Blonde Tele. Designed to be relatively opaque. It's made by Mohawk for SM.

The Mohawk toners are great for translucent finishes, but has to be built up pretty thick to become opaque, but they offer a LOT of hues for suibjective tastes.

I think Reranch was opened briefly in early Summer. The owners self-quarantined for 2020 because they are in a high-risk demographic, and their supplier has had supply chain issues as well. The owner hasn't posted anything to the Reranch forums since June.

Since Reranch was not available this Spring when I started my project, I used Gracey's "Mary Kaye" for this one (ash body, walnut colored filler). I bought and used the Art Primo calligraphy tips that Stew mac puts on their cans. I liked the way it built better than the Mohawk toner, but it also didn't spray as wet and level.

Mr., please tell me you have a build thread going somewhere with this guitar. It looks incredible. I've been known to achieve a pretty good finish on my builds, but yours is what I aspire to be able to do someday!

I am just staring at this. My AV64 has the “burst” and is more opaque around the edges. It has also yellowed just a bit in certain areas. But the “blueish” hue that comes through in that grain is the same as what I see in my AV64 tho, and I just love that! I almost prefer yours because you can see more of it.
