Never been invited to a destination wedding, I'm almost positive I wouldn't go if I was invited.

I've traveled 6 hours by car, flown back "home" to Milwaukee, but that's the worst of it.

I was really happy when a close friend of mine said he and his gal were getting married here in Denver. They wanted to have all their families (edit: phrasing... haha) able to attend and keep it affordable so everyone can have a great time. Less money spent on travel and accommodations means they get better gifts

Millennials I know of are actually very mindful, intelligent, ambitious clever and resourceful folks, not the spoiled entitled bratty louts they are so often painted.

I think a lot of what we see with that is maybe generation-envy:)

Millenials have just been manipulated by the MSM and education system.
Some are awake to that fact and the rest just do what they have been programmed to do.

ummmm.....let's pump the brakes a bit. Who said the grandparents didn't attend? How do you know they're even alive? or the parents? Seems to be a rush to judgement. Also, if it's a same-sex marriage that's not legal in that state, what are some other options? Finally, WTF is Moose lodge? Is that from a movie or tv show? I mean, seriously! I'm middle-aged, and only recognize the concept of an elks lodge or moose lodge from tv/movies I've seen.

I got married in a church with a reception in a...hmm, well it wasn't at the church but it wasn't at the elks lodge either. The hotel? Dang, after 26 years, I can't remember.

50% of my kids are gay: I don't they'll get married in a church or anywhere in the "great" state of Utah. I'm pushing for Vegas but we also own a timeshare in the Dominican Republic, so either is good. My parents/kids' grandparents are too old to travel, so unless we held the wedding in Lubbock or Midland (which is a BIG HECKK NO!!!), they would be unlikely to attend anyway.

Ah! The irony! You see, Millennials are the Kulaks of the Grumpy Old Guy Regime. A manufactured enemy if you will.

I think Moose Lodge is where the term Moose Knuckle came from?

The other reason people have told me they go this route is because they knoe most people will say no or be unable to go. It allows them to keep their guest list small, while making people think they aren't being left out. So while it's a destination wedding, they actually end up spending less.

Personally am I am not invited at all I am thrilled. I am not millennial, which people are saying is a factor in these weddings. But I grew up with people having stupidly lavish wedding where the amount of money spent could have been used for a house down payment. I think it's a ridiculous waste of money.

    It’s all about the Insta.

If you have no desire to own a car or a house, it frees up cash for other things.

I agree, I know a couple who spent $75k on their wedding. They were renting and borrowed the money for the wedding. They hadn't yet paid the loan off before divorcing 4 years later.

Why would people envy Millenials? The first generation that the majority will probably never own a house or be debt free?
