Doing a battery upgrade and nearly lit the kitchen on fire as I punctured the old one.
Fwiw, I did get the new battery in, and the old phone still works fine. It's got grill marks, tho.
Given my son's talent for breaking phones - having a charred but working extra is a net gain.

pro tip - only use smooth plastic tools to pry on lithium batteries
