Both ticks and chiggers here, they really love Mrs Strum. Perhaps she is sweeter or maybe I'm just better at sticking to the path.

I think we might have chiggers here too, but I'm more afraid of the ticks. Pretty high incidence of Lyme disease, and Alpha-gal Syndrome (LoneStar Tick Disease) is rising.

It has also been a fairly wet summer so far (which is good) but that generally means more mosquitos. You don't have to go out in the woods for them, they make housecalls.

Had a few people over for some wine/cheese/housewarming. Various friends of my dad had been asking when they could see my place and today ended up being the day. And I bought four bottles of wine for this. And exactly two glasses of wine got poured. The fake beer proved popular. The real beer not so much. This is what the snacks looked like at the end. Oka cheese (from Quebec), an herbed chevre, Brie and a very cheddar like Leicester in the red wax.

Yeah I have alpha-gal, so does my oldest daughter. It was scary first time she had a reaction 😧 It was a doctor at UVA who discovered the connection. I know a few folks with it.
Been through antibiotics for Lyme 3 times~

The thing about chiggers is that they're invisible to the naked eye, but within a day you'll know you got into them!

Oof, sorry to hear that. And 3 Times The Lymes! Have you considered wearing a flea and tick collar?

Spectacular! I honestly wasn't sure what I was looking at, and, before I saw the third photo, was going to ask if it was the sky over your head or shag carpeting under your feet!

Ticks are also vectors of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Nasty stuff.

Up to a point, I enjoy finding beauty in ugly things. Ticks come way before that point. They just look like they're up to no good!
