We have had a couple bald eagles right past our backyard. I have not seen them in about four days. Wheeler Wildlife Refuge is on the other side of my fence.

Not exactly, though I was in the Boys Brigade and learned some knots there for badge tests.

a lifetime of sailing also gave me a lot of practice...

...just thinking about how many times I've tied fenders onto lifelines with that exact same clove hitch.

Actually I have tied a lot of things with a clove hitch. I originally learned it in the Boy Scouts. As a scout I worked with the Webelos, ten year old Cub Scouts about to turn eleven and join scouts, and taught them knots including the clove hitch.

Yeah, we had a company event all week there. Great facilities, incredible meals, and a superb staff. The rooms could've been a little nicer, but everything else was tip top.
