Just think of all the sessions and shows Tim performed. He was a part of music history. That's quite an accomplishment. Thanks for laying down the bass line, Tim. Well done.

RIP Tim Drummond

RIP I really liked Tim Drummond. You can also add Bee Spears and Chris Ethridge to the list.

I've read somewhere that he was the only white member in James Brown's Band. I may be wrong but he backed Brown on his Vietnam tour. I've always love his work on Young's records.

Tim was a friend of the family. He grew up next door to my grandparents and kept in touch for quite some time. He would let them know when he would be appearing on TV and we would all tune in. My grandma just loved him. I remember his grandmother. She was a quiet and pleasant woman. When he was on tour he wrote her often. When I was in grade school I made a stamp collection of foreign stamps that I cut off the envelopes of the letters he had sent to her. As I got a little older my grandparents gave me the albums he had given them. Harvest, Time Fades Away, On The Beach, Slow Train Coming, and some Crosby and Nash albums. He would stop by when he was close enough and able to spend some time. My first concert was Neil Young Solo in 1983. Combination of solo, The Shocking Pinks and Trans. He had sent the tickets to my grandparents and they couldn't go/didn't like the loud music of a concert. I went with my Aunt, her boyfriend and my best friend. I will never forget the guy in front of us who was wasted, smoking a bowl and yelling "That a baby Neil!" over and over. We had back stage passes and we met up with Tim and briefly Neil. I still have my pass. Pretty cool stuff for a 13 year old kid. Although I didn't really know him I tried to keep up with what he was doing. I would ask his best friend from school Jim Watts what was up with him and he would update me. My grandparents both passed away last summer and to learn of Tim's passing was sad. Just another chapter of life gone by. Thank you Grandma, Grandpa and Tim.

James calls out for Tim to play a bass solo on this video!

It looks more in the video like a big hollow bass. An Hoffner, Harmony, Kay, Eko?
