Oddly enough, I thought I knew a fair amount of "Kansas" going in to this last weekend. And then I stumbled upon a video that expressed what I really miss about their best period. Kansas (in their prime) embodied the ideas that music was *important* and that producing it was a *big deal*. Two members that could play keyboards? Sure, why not! An electric violinist? Let's do that! Several members who could do background vocals? Of course! Here's the record company's video of them doing a song that just sounds...huge--and doesn't get much airplay (obviously, or I would have been very familiar with it!):
