Knew him from Black Uhuru.

Guess who’s coming to dinner ? Natty Dread - (and Sly and Robbie !)

RIP

OH yeah, The Dub Factor
Possibly my favorite album, maybe ?
But if you like your dub with a healthy dose of apocalyptic effects from syndrums, synthesizers, and mixing board alike, then The Dub Factor will do the trick. More than just a empty exercise in knob twiddling, this Black Uhuru dub excursion by Sly & Robbie will no doubt please both fans of the group and habituates of quality dub titles.

Man, what a loss.

A bit eerie, too, because I didn't know of this news until I read this thread, but I was literally looking through my Bob Dylan "Springtime In New York" box set and reading the liner notes about the recording of the "Infidels" album, and digging the pics of Bob, Robbie, and Mark Knopfler jamming in the studio.

R.I.P. Robbie.

WOW! Now that is one band I'd have liked to see perform live.

RIP Robbie - you will truly be missed

My mom's basement.
I saw Robbie and Sly Dunbar with Black Uhuru too, they opened for the Police around '82 at the Brendan Byrne Arena ,Meadowlands N.J.

Upper left ticket stub - Black Uhuru and King Sunny Ade same show. It was amazing.

RIP Mr. Shakespeare!

I was just listening to Jacob Miller's Christmas album earlier today...Sly & Robbie all over it.
Jacob "Killer' Miller! We lost him a long ways back.
Sad about Robbie; another great one gone.
