I had a shipmate in the Navy that was a big COC fan. Sad. RIP

Wow... Big fan of COC here. This is terrible news.

EDIT: just found public confirmation that he had been having issues with alcohol. If that's what did it, it's a terrible way to go.

I know COC is best known in the Carolinas, and not a musical style many TDPRI members enjoy, but I'm sad to see how little attention this has gotten here.

Yeah, that would suck, if that's what it comes down to. There's partying, which COC loved to do, and there's that level beyond that.

Yes, Corrosion of Conformity. No, he didn't play a tele, he was the drummer. And a damn fine one.

That's really too bad. He was such a great drummer whose personality really came through his playing. Saw them live a few years ago and he was amazing!

Sadly, Reed had been a mess for years. I remember seeing his late '90s band Brown (Reed was the frontman) in the middle of the afternoon at a benefit for a children's' hospital, and those guys were really wrecked. It just seemed sad and unnecessary.

The other members of COC cut him loose from their last tour because they didn't think he'd survive it.

"People need to wanna help themselves. You can't just push them to get help — they've gotta wanna help themselves."

That's the truth. That band could do heavy but with soul simuliar to Black Sabbath.....shame.

From Classic Country to Hard Rock to Metal: The list goes on. Booze and drugs has taken its toll on too many artist, who's passing ends up being posted on TDPRI.

I never heard of CofC until reading this post, but I can still feel a degree of sadness at loss of a fellow human being regardless of their music preference.

    RIP Mr. Mullin
