R.I.P Joe Don Baker, 89 years around the sun

I always liked him as an actor.

He played a Mafia hit guy named Molly in the Walter Matthau film Charley Varrick, which was originally a Clint Eastwood film. Clint bowed out because the main character indiscriminately kills and that was too extreme for Clint's image. The cast consists of many Eastwood film regulars. It's a good one!

I saw this earlier. A very decent actor. His portrayal of Buford Pusser in Walking Tall was my intro to Baker’s acting even though he had been in several movies before that.
About the time of Walking Tall’s release the real Pusser was making the rounds in the south on a PR tour.

Man, I just loved Walking Tall as a kid and still do. He was also great as the bad police chief in Fletch and as Nolte's PI in the Cape Fear remake. He was from my part of the country and I always liked that his accent was genuine.

Good coming of age type movie with some good action and great story.
