question: while in the shop, what are you most notorious for losing?

I will second that, for sure.

+1 on what CapnCrunch and about 1/2 dozen others said as well as losing my mind, any sense of time, and the need to venture outside and deal with "normal people"!....

I see an idea in this tread for a build. Pencils anyone? I know we had the yardstick thing for the challenge build. I'm sure we've all probably lost about 2 to 3 tele's work of pencils over the years.

Wonder how the led would affect the tone?

    My train of thought....
Sometimes, my wife finds me in the garage staring off at some fixed point in space, tapping on a piece of maple, mahogany, or paduak...

    And these.

Don't buy all polycarbonate safety goggles. They never scratch, so they don't become any easier to find as they get older!

That's the main reason I lose other things as well. I sometimes find myself holding tools with no idea when or where from I got them... They then get set next to where ever I'm working at the time. I'm sure it goes the other way too. I grab the tool to do something but forget what it was that needed done.

 maybe one is slipping seamlessly into the other and my mind is too lazy to hold onto both.

Hey! I found my keys :D

Anything I lay down. Lay it down, grab another tool. Set that one down, spin around in circles trying to find the first tool. Find it, use it, set it down. Do the dance all over again. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Any tool I use immediately becomes lost once I put it down. I can look for ages for things which are eventually found in plain sight.

Dental pick, I have one, I put it down and there it was... gone. (wife stole it, and uses it to clean her bridge!!) Isn't that why I have a dental plan?

Lately it's a three way allen wrench for bicycles, it's black and it disappears. As does my spoke wrench which is bright yellow. I need to start loosing tules for geetars again.

+1 small tools seem to walk away - for me it's needle files, Allen wrenches and dental picks. My wife got me a tool that has like 20 Allen wrenches that turn out of it - this is a great tool - I got a metric one too... They both walked off... Haven't seen them in months.

My pocket knife. It went missing for a couple of years, came home for a couple months, disappeared again. I finally gave up and bought another one a couple of months ago.
