That's not a problem as it's ONLY the Tele neck profile that is the outlier.
Btw, a neck effects the tone and dynamic response of a Tele. You'll hear it ...sometimes good, and sometimes not.
Bumping thread because there was no mention of the neck and neck pocket screw holes, does anyone know if they line up if both the strat neck and tele body have been previously drilled for their normal fitment?
This one has an 80's Fullerton made Strat neck. Strat or Tele my all time favorite Fender neck.
Custom Strat to Tele pickgaurds are available on the net but being black the gap is so unnoticeable that I didn't think it was worth the trouble.
The holes will not line up if you put a Tele neck in a Strat pocket because basically the squarer corners on the Tele neck prevent the heel from going far enough into the pocket for the screw holes to line up.
Strat neck on Tele body is no problem because the Strat neck has overall less material where the Tele neck has more material for the overall length.
Thanks, yes I want to put a spare strat neck on a tele body but wasn't sure the holes would be the same.
Me too! I had a loaded tele body with no neck, so I slapped on an orphaned strat neck and I worked out great. I think the problem is more with a tele neck on a strat body as the square heel doesn't quite recede far enough into the neck cavity enough thus messing with the scale length for intonation.
I never had any issue doing it
I prefer a tele neck on a strat.
