This is one of many reasons I don't play a Strat. Strat saddles and screws can be a little rough for palm muting, and I'm not versatile enough in my picking technique to be inconsistent.

I saw them in San Jose and they definitely did not lip sync. I was standing right in front of the stage. Can't remember if he rested his hand on the bridge tho'.

Indeed. Look at Jimi. Hand over the trem bar. Totally weird.

No. I don’t know how anyone could. I play a strat mainly. The bridge is too far down. I prefer the warmer sounds closer to the neck pickup anyway. Sometimes I unconsciously rest my ring finger on the pick guard.

I should note that since I got out the guitars again about a month or so ago I've made a conscious effort to keep my palm off the bridge of my guitars. Before I stopped playing I used to rest my hand on the bridge most of the time.

I think it gives a little variety in the tone of my playing (I don't have my chops up yet so the playing isn't that great).

Not on the Tele, unless I'm palm muting or trying to get extreme levels of twang. For whatever reason, it hurts to 'rest' my hand on the Tele bridge - there's no rest involved.
