Hello Everyone

back in the 90's I had a couple of Washburn Telecasters, and I am trying to find out some information on them.

both guitars appeared identical, but there was a difference.

but here is the description.

the neck was maple with a rosewood board, bolt on, the headstock was shaped sort of like a charvel jackson, it had grover tuning keys and a locking nut.

the body was routed out for 2 single coils and a humbucker, it has a floyd rose tremelo, the pickups mounted into the body without a pickguard, the electronics mounted from the rear of the guitar, there was a coil tap on the bridge position humbucker.

the differences between the pair, one had a flamed maple top on a plywood body, the other one had an alder body with a flamed maple top, both bodies had double binding like a telecaster custom.

I have been trying to find out for sometime about this guitar, I would like to find one for nostalgia and what a better place to ask than a telecaster forum, right?.

any help is appreciated.

thank you for your time.

take care
George.

How about forums.washburn.com?

There is a (link removed)regarding the Washburn Laredo series.

I'm sure the others here will agree that only Fender and Squier can make a "Telecaster"!

not out to flame anyone, but there is some killer telecasters out there outside of the fender realm, I love fender, hate squiers unless it is an early 80's MIJ

Dan Erlewine ( Dan I hope I have your last name right don't shoot me buddy ) made a killer telecaster a while back for someone I know and it is comparable to something Leo did back in the 50's

just wanted to see if a fellow Telecaster fan knew anything about it,

yeah

Best bet would be to contact them directly in conjunction to a forum search over there. On the site they mention a turn around time for emails answered.

At first I thought this place would be Fender-ized, but I've also learned alot about non Fender Teles, like Hahn or Ron K's stuff . . . And the DIY stuff . . .

And Leo made G&L . . . they makes good quality Teles, don't sound a like Fender , nor do they have body thru stringing, but good nonetheless.

Sure there are lots of people who can make good guitars but I think you’ll find they are referred to as Teles, only Fender or Squier make Telecasters.
It’s a bit pedantic but there can be no such thing as a Washburn Telecaster only a Washburn Tele or T style guitar.
By the way I’m a big fan of Washburn’s and own a HB35 and J9v

I have a Washburn Laredo (see avatar), which is a mid-90s guitar, but it's not much like the ones you mentioned. Mine's much more classic Tele: swamp ash body, maple neck, stringthrough hardtail, no binding, Wilkinson hardware, SD Broadcaster single-coils. There is a Washburn forum, and there may be some help for you over there.
