How much of a PITA is it? Has anyone done it and do they stay in tune? Links to Aftermarket pics or companies?
    Thanks, R

I haven’t done it but I’m interested. What kind of trem are you talking about? Bigsby, Floyd Rose, other?

I did a pine cabronita type tele with a trem. I was working from scratch so that was easier. The block and spring routs are the same as when you rout a strat. Photobucket ruined the pix but you get the idea. I basically superimposed a strat drawing on a tele drawing and lined up the neck cavities.

    Bigsby’s are easy to fit.

    And take off.

fwiw it'd be far less invasive and just as practical to find a vibrato pedal you like with an expression functionality to maintain usability while keeping your guitar pristine.

As far as putting a strat trem on a tele....yes it can be done
But...unless you have the skills and tools it would be more cost effective to just buy a tele body that is already routed

Oh....my... the one that got away:’( one of the few guitars I regret not buying when I had the chance was a brand new mocha brown tele deluxe with a trem, you don’t really see them often
This was around 2006 or so and I had not been bit by the tele bug yet

For my baritone partscaster I bought a GFS body with a strat trem rout, and a Wilkinson trem bridge.

Buy a pre-routed body, don't cut up a perfectly good regular tele body. ;)

You can put a Stetsbar on without extra drilling. It's much nicer than a B5 with Vibramate.

Funny. I've had several Teles and one right now with vibratos. Bigsby makes one for flat tops. B-5 and B50.
I have one from GFS on mine right now.

If you stick with a Strat trem you should be fine. Never had a tuning issue with any of my Strats.
