    Hi everyone…

I am looking to buy a new Fender Jaguar 60s lacquer, which comes with a Pau Ferro fretboard. https://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-guitars/jaguar/60s-jaguar-lacquer/0141233702.html

    But I love maple necks.

So, though most would see this as a downgrade, I am interested in buying a Duo-Sonic neck, because not only is the satin back one of my all-time favorites from Fender, but I realized tonight that it has a 24 inch short scale like the Jaguar (and both have the same 1.650” nut width).

    So ...

Am I correct that there should be no reason that I couldn’t put the Duosonic neck on the Jaguar body?

    Thanks!

Yeah, should be fine. In cases like this, check the scale length and number of frets. If both match, should work.

Unless there's a fretboard overhang, but that doesn't apply to Fender 24" necks.

@radiocaster awesome. Thanks for the info. I’ll likely give it a shot. Appreciate it.

People used to swap them on the older ones. I’m pretty sure the 24” scale and 22-3/4 or whatever it was were also interchangeable. It’ll work, unless they’ve changed something about the cut of the neck pocket.

I discovered a few years back that not all jag necks fit all jags. I had a... Jagstang maybe or maybe it was a Vintage Modified something or other with the 3 pickups like a strat? cant remember, but the problem was that although the scale length was the same, the neck pocket rout wasn't. Really surprised me. So just a caution... not sure what guitars are involved with all that.

I thought both were the same scale(24")?

Yeah AFAIK the Duo Sonic had two scale lengths but maybe the RI only comes in one.
Like @schmee said, sometimes it's the heel that doesn't fit, even from one Fender Tele to another Fender Tele.

ie: the heel in the neck pocket was a different distance from the bridge.

Vintage duo Sonics and music masters had the 22.xx” scale, the modern duo Sonics (2016-) have the 24”

Some of the American Pro Jags have a maple fingerboard if you can find a neck for sale.

The pre-1965 ones were indeed also available in a shorter scale, which was interchangeable with the 24" ones. 1990s Duo-Sonics had a different neck, not sure they were interchangeable, and those 1990s/2000s Musicmasters had a 24.75" neck. The Classic Vibe Duo-Sonics had a weird neck, I don't think it was interchangeable with Mustangs/Jaguars.
