I have no clue what your 'punk' is
No, it went away sometime in the late 80s. Those Black Widows came from different makers, with several different pickups... and mine was one of the Mosrite-built models with the Maxon-made humbuckers... which were basically PAFs, as I understand it. (I wouldn't have had a clue at the time. )
johnny ramone laughs at their upstrokes
Maybe it was just general life advice.
The answer is Rat.
He has a sig model too.
more of a tribute model than a sig model...i have one
When I first started playing I got my "punk" tone from Peavey Bandit. It was all I could afford and at 50 watts with everything on 10 it was barely loud enough. My sister in law bought an early 80's Peavey Audition Plus for me. She found it in a yard sale last weekend. It's good for 15-20 watts wide open and sounds like my old punk sound to me.
Short answer to the long story, P-90 into a silver panel Peavey on 10. Old strings are bonus.
The upstrokes aren't the problem. It's the lack of palm muting and overall lack of aggression.
On a side note, I got to see Los Crudos last night, and it was pretty inspiring. I feel like every musical project Martin touches is great. I think they sounded even tighter than their old records.
Crusties that just do drugs and don't drink? I'm dubious about that.
i didnt want to hog all the problems by saying them...i want others to have a chance
Listen to the Germs.
Suicide's S/T debut has the best punk guitar tones.
He might have been on to something.
I couldn't lighten up enough to start taking random unknown drugs. Still can't. I don't think I have a lesser quality of life because of it.
Why is this thread in pedals? Punks don't use pedals, except East Bay Ray.
Yeah, where would 'police truck' be without that echoplex!
Dead Kennedy's are still doin' it, and Jello is in rare form!
I get my punk tone from a modded Fender Excelsior, a Rat pedal and a parts Tele. All together its less than the price of a Hot Rod Deluxe III
They were also like one of the the first bands to use the term punk too!
jello hasn't been in that band for years.
i think czech-one-2 meant that jello was in rare form with his other projects. The former DK and jello are at war it seems.
Right, I saw Jello's band at a festival last summer and He hasn't slowed down at all. Not sure what the DK fued is about though...
