In my early teens, I began to notice that in movies, when a good guy punches someone, they then act they hurt their hand, and try to shake it out.

I just saw Henry Fonda do that in the Boston Strangler. Don't ask why I'm watching that.

It DOES hurt when you punch someone. Boxers don't wear those gloves to protect the other guy.

I try not to punch anyone these days. It's not exactly spreading the love.

And it really hurts my hand.

I don’t know, if you punch someone, you’re not a good guy.

I believe good guys can punch. My wife has told me never start a fight, but don’t come home a loser.

Getting punched by Chuck Norris would suck.

So if the bad guy is tougher than you, your wife thinks you're a loser? That seems harsh.

Good guys don't start fights. They finish them.

I’m not an expert, but it seems like if any one of the extreme punches in movies landed in real life, the person getting punched would die.

I remember whacking at big hanging punch bag, maybe weighed 200lbs.
Think I woke up next day with sprained wrists. I am a wimp.

Until Chuck's toupee falls off, then it's hilarious!

If you SAW his rug fall off, and laughed, he'd have to kill you.

When Chuck Norris went off to college at eighteen, he told his Dad, "You're the man of the house now."

Yeah....I KNOW it's just Hollywood.....but seeing some of these movie fights, especially when guys take blows that would shatter both jaws and fists, makes me roll my eyes. Then there's the guy who takes a massive beating to the face, and shows up the next day with a little Butterfly strip over his eyebrow and no bruising.
BTW, I haven't been in a fistfight since third grade, and I'm too old to have one now. I carry "Fight Prevention" now.

that makes sense, it shows you're not a goon who is totally casually used to going around slugging people

Yeah, people in films recover incredibly quickly. I've had paper cuts that took longer to heal than some movie bullet wounds.

I love how, when I was a kid, problems were always solved by punching someone. All our movie heroes did that. Then I found out that punching people to solve the problem was actually frowned upon in real life. In fact, and get this, it is illegal to do that most of the time. I should sue the TV and movie industry for teaching me wrongly all through my formative years.
