Any tone tips or advice for a Bon Jovi/Sambora newbie?

This Sunday night our community is doing the 2nd installment of a public singalong.

Last week we all sang Do You Hear The People Sing from Les Miserable and It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood (We are Pittsburghers!)

This week our fair borough will be singing Living On A Prayer by Bon Jovi and Imagine by John Lennon.

I'm a punk and rockabilly guy who has avoided playing Bon Jovi since the 1980s. However, this week I am all in!!

I'll playing a California Fat Tele into a Peavey Delta Blues. I've got an assortment of delays, overdrives and fuzz pedals, which I'll use to try and approximate Mr Sambora's sound.

    Viva Dormont PA!

I was singing, not playing guitar, for Les Miserable.

A local TV station, WTAE in Pittsburgh, took video where you can hear my big loud mouth singing. That performance was sponsored by a shot and a beer.

You might want to check and see if that public gathering is still on.

    Huh?

It's a public gathering where everyone sings from their own front porch or open windows.

Agreed! I voted for singing/playing America The Beautiful and Space Oddity, however it was a borough wide vote and other songs won.

Think about it this way: get past the fact that the tune was performed by an 80s hair band.

The subject matter of the tune is no different than something Springsteen would do. Even Lou Reed (Sweet Jane, anyone?). It's a song about what's really important in life and how we have to depend on each other to make it to tomorrow.

I'm not particularly a fan of Bon Jovi, but it is a good song.

Is everybody going to use kazoos and/or listerine gargling to simulate the talk box part of that song ?

the song’s a piece of crap but JBJ and his wife have done a ton of good with all their money and, very surprisingly his views are sane, empathetic, and not what you’d expect outta Joisey...o_O

Dormont, eh? I grew up in Bethel Park. Had a great Aunt and Uncle that lived in Dormont.

If only I had a Q-Tron or some other envelope filter/auto wah to mimic the talk box effect.

perhaps Bonjovi's - Bad Medicine - would be a better fit?

but this track cuts right to the matter

this one's pretty clutch these days:

And, we made ABC World News Tonight this past week!

It was quite a thrill to see my wife and I singing from our front porch on the national news.

I can send the video that was aired, if anyone is interested.
