If you hadn’t put this up, I would have.
My examples are not exactly “public”, being located at a private facility, but George Barber didn’t have to include sculptures at his motorsport museum and track. That he did makes my visits that much better.

IIRC when that piece was created decades ago there was not colorful decorating on the Caddy's?

The Jaws one was three or four years ago and isn’t there any more. Typically, community additions to the Cardiff Kook stay up for a few days to maybe a week before they are taken down, either by the city of Encinitas, or the next guerrilla artist. But if you’re in the neighborhood, seeing what the Kook is wearing today is always fun, and the beach at Cardiff is always spectacular anyway.

This is in the park in Jagger's home town, which is also where Vox amps were born. Yes, there was some fuss that Keith Richard wasn't included.
Here’s a couple of pics I shot from the hip of the then still standing public art gallery known as the Berlin Wall.
The top one is I guess riffing on Guernica, comparing that Spanish history vs East West stuff.
The bottom pic is two young Russian girls flaunting the Western luxuries in the form of the fine furs of freedom?

I took this pic in the early ‘90s but it was in the pile of rolls I never processed until maybe 2010.
X-Rays or whatever turn old rolls gray over time, then I scanned the B&W neg on a $100 printer scanner and this is a crop digital print that’s also not aged well. I suck at managing my stuff and could not find the neg once I set up my own darkroom.
Anyhow, the store window display is not a store, I'm pretty sure it's in the garment district near FIT so it was as much public art as advert.
But also in NYC it's common for artists to be hired to do store window displays.
Apologies for the freehand cut mat for a crappy print!

The Standard just did one of their weekly "Hottest Areas in London" articles and for my area (Green Lanes) another work from the same artist was featured. Maybe you can convince him to come up to Scotland. In addition to the peacock here he's also done an Indian elephant that I am aware of.

silo/water tank murals are everywhere in Oz.... they are all mapped out for people to go on a tour to see them..
one way the sleepy inland towns can attract some visitors and put some colour back in their worlds... gives artists something grand to work on, too...

Czechoslovakia had a bloody history under Russian occupancy that ended in the 1990's, but it was still a surprise to find this tank on display in central Prague in 2008 when we visited this beautiful and historic town - a passive but still sinister reminder of what violence these streets had seen...
This is the only thing like your tank murals that comes to mind from back home in America. And totally relevant to this site!
