I spent many years working in Psychiatric institutions and I can state with complete assurance that from the 90's into the teens the soundtrack was almost exclusively Pink Floyd- with maybe some Roger Waters solo stuff thrown in for light relief... Maybe different where you live.

Manic Depression by Jimi. Not only a great song, but sums up my illness totally, although the illness is now commonly called bipolar disorder.

This one gets me every time:

Your gentle hand reached out to comfort me
    screeeeeech
    Then came the dawn
    And you were gone
    You were gone, gone, gone

Pretty much the whole Dark Side of the Moon album. "The lunatic is in my head" ...whatever that one is called.

I was on that for years, now I take seroquel, valproic acid for the bipolar mani, and 2 antidepressants escitaloprám and mirtazapine for my depression, which runs side by side with the bipolar.

My dad passed on. He said uppers and downers got the cycle going. That was before meth and barbs were considered dangerous.
