    Hi.

The two part Elvis documentary Elvis Presley: The Searcher landed on Netflix today (here in Japan anyway).

I see it's actually from 2018 and produced by HBO Documentaries, where it originally screened, so it may be old news to some.

Anyway, haven't looked at it yet, but it seems interesting.

It covers his early career quite well, stuff I didn’t know about him.

    It's pretty good.

I've watched it in parts and enjoyed it so far.

Worth a watch. Enjoy it yourself. :)

    Hi everyone.

Curious now, is it on Netflix in other regions? Slightly worried I might have recommended something that's only on Netflix Japan. That's happened before.

Highly recommended. If you have favorable opinions of Elvis the man going into this, you probably won’t have them coming out. You may feel sympathy, and even understanding, but I don’t think you’ll be able to wave it all away. It’s not a hatchet piece, and I think it was presented fairly and was well researched, but to see it all wrapped up in a long-ish documentary... pretty damning stuff.

I don’t have Netflix any longer but it shows up in their US content list via (web) search for me.

Should also say it’s not just about Elvis and young girls... snip from a good review at RS:

“So if you’re going into The Searcher expecting either new surprises or bombshell revelations, you may come away disappointed. But if you’re looking for a more balanced look at Presley’s life that zeroes in on his music and impact, the film absolutely delivers. While The Searcher covers well-known highlights of Presley’s life and career, it takes a more measured and thoughtful approach in its treatment of Presley, the artist.”
