# PRS Silver Sky Volume Control - Explain the Math

OK I'm trying to get my head around this ....

As I understand it, to make each guitar sound the same, a resistor is wired to the volume pot so the pickups see the same range of resistance.

I may have the actual values wrong, but the ideal volume pot value is 270k, so we add say a 3.3 meg resistor to the nominal 300k pot fitted and that gives us the 270k we want.

Can someone explain the math in very simple terms so I can understand it ...

Then I see the SE version has a 250k volume pot and a 2.7 meg resistor. So presumably the volume pot there is quite a low value, even though both versions of the guitar sound very similar.

Sometimes I need to lie down in the dark.

Thank's Peegoo, I now feel ready to assist NASA with the calculations for the Artemis1 launch!
