Are these PRS bodies fatter than the typical Strat?
I like Strats and had an old crappy 90's Squier for a long time but the thinness of the body always frustrated me. I need something a little bit more meaty.

Does the Silver Sky SE use stainless steel frets? I don't like the excessive high mids that stainless steel frets add to the tone. Suhr and Music Man strats have the same issue. Based on Youtube demos, I'm preferring the SE tone over the USA one.

This is exciting. In my mind's eye, Fender execs are squirming and loosening their neckties. An obvious competitor for the Player series.

No knock on Fender. But now they have a real rival in the sub-$1000 segment.
The Performer should be the new Player. $899 for a MIM Performer would be a great competitor.

I want the green one.

I just need to convince my wife that it's different enough from my American Performer Strat , but she's cool and likes my playing, it will be fine.
I need to convince mine that it's different enough from my Silver Sky. It has a rosewood fingerboard and mine's maple, so I'll start with that angle!

I don't really love any of the colors (which is probably a good thing right now). Nicotine-stained teeth (I mean Moon White) is probably the closest.

PRS is going to sell a zillion of these, I predict.

It sounds consistently different. I've seen a dozen of reviews. The SE scoop mids much more like Fender-era John Mayer guitars.

I won't even consider buying one until I can play it. Reviews don't do it for me any more.
They do if you cannot play it before buying. But I agree, comfort can only be assured by playing. Tone can be inferred if you listen to a lot of reviews with good headphones.

Fair enough. If I didn't have a SS, I would let not touching the SE before buying one stop me. Always returnable, of course.

No PRS guitars use Stainless frets, that I’m aware of.

See now, I’m hearing the exact opposite. I think my US SS sounds much more like that than any demo I’ve heard of the SE. I think the SE sounds great, and very similar to my SS. But it’s got more mid grunt, a slightly hotter output, and definitely isn’t as scooped sounding in the 2 and 4 spots.

Lol stainless steel frets are found on higher end guitars. Are some people just lazy to look up the specs lol
