Just announced today I guess. I like the blue. Granted I just bought a Strat-style so I'm not really in the market, but I like that they're offering variations.

If it had a rolling nut and locking tuners I might be tempted. I feel like Strats have regressed since the 90s...

To each their own, of course -- I hate the bird inlays and the shape of the bass side cutaway, as well.
PRS is definitely a love/hate thing. Nobody seems to be just okay on PRS designs.

I love the birds, and having spent a substantial chunk of my adulthood living in Maryland, I feel like they're a hometown brand (granted, these are made in Indonesia).

For the price they sell those SE models for, and the quality level they sport, some simple mods like that would be worth it. Helluva lot better bang for your mod buck than a squier or similar.

Had several U.S.-made examples years ago -- all with moons -- that I ultimately let go of (classic case of "not bonding," whatever that really means), so/but am surprised to find myself very happy with both of the '09 MIK examples I acquired relatively recently, each of which (after some modding) thoroughly checks a different type of non-Tele box for me...

Love both of those. What are the pups in the semi hollow?

Ampeg Dan Armstrong from 1969. Remember these?

not good, the curves are random

the issue for me with PRS is that the concave curve in the headstock is unrelated to the kinds of curves elsewhere in the guitar, so it looks anomalous and unintegrated

I read a while ago somewhere that all the curves in a tele came from the same French curve, which makes good aesthetic sense

designs that have anomalous elements just plopped in together look amateur

I could see over time how the PRS headstock became a distinguisher in the market, and bad publicity is better than no publicity, but my jerk-like theory remains: the headstock is a relic of early PRS goofing around design that just stuck, and now they can't modify it without compromising the brand

(shrugs)

@ndcaster I posted the pic of the Ampeg "See-Thru" headstock because of #markal's comment on your get-on-board mod (it looks similar; same with an Ibanez headstock from the 1990s).

When this Silver Sky was first released, holy cow, you'd have thought PRS slapped mommas all over the Fender-playing earth. There was a lot of butt hurt. There still is.

same

it wouldn't take much to get me on board

That looks familiar but I can't think of why...
