That''s a lot of dough.

And I'm skeptical of a two-saddle bridge. Intonation could be a problem.

My favorite bridge of all time is a one-piece wraparound, and I've had zero intonation problems with those, to include inexpensive PRS import models. Just my two cents.

As an aside though.... nearly three grand, and not even a hardshell case? Wow, eff you, PRS. That's ridiculous.

Some of us prefer it that way. I was actually quite pleased that my Silver Sky came with a nice quality bag and not another heavy and bulky hardshell that I’d never use and would have to store.

It looks like a nice guitar…but I don’t think it’s worth almost $3000.00.

YMMV
That’s up to the buyers. A whole lot of people would say the same about the Silver Sky. When I bought mine it was $2400. Now they’re $2750. In another year or two they’ll be $3k or better.

If anything happened to mine I’d buy another one at whatever the current price would be. It would take me a long time to get it done, I don’t have $3k laying around to toss at anything. Let alone a guitar. But I’d get it done eventually. After owning mine for a couple years, it’s totally worth it.

Like you, I actually don't like a hardshell case. But g****mn, for three grand, a frikking gig bag? That's an insult. (my opinion)

I can see that, because we’re pre-disposed to believe that a hardshell is superior and worth more money. I used to be the same way. For a long time.

Anymore, I’d pay extra to get a bag instead of a hardshell just so I don’t have to store anymore of them. 😂

I hear ya. Gig bags really are more convenient and space-saving and have always done fine to protect my guitars--even Les Pauls.

And I'm sure it's a great guitar, just as most PRS's are--it's just more than I'm willing to spend. But then, I'm not a gigging musician either.

I like the looks of the Silver Sky, but the NF 53 looks a little off to me. Maybe over time it'll grow on me.

A lot of good comments. I didn't think about the case most my guitars have no case I have a couple cases that fit most my guitars. As for the price everyones finical situation is deferent. I don't buy a lot of guitars. New guitars I've owned: 1964 Kapa cobra (still have) 84 SG sold it 2007 Breedlove and 2003 PRS custom 22. Needless to say playing since 63 ' haven't spent a lot but have built quiet a few. Before I bought NF 53 I'd sell the PRS. I do wish they would come out with more options for finishes. I just like to try one to see if i'd like it.

Yup, I’ve got 3 Fender hard cases plus other with a Shergold in it: the only time I use all 4 is when I move house (and I’m never doing that again!!), otherwise I use one at a time to take a guitar to a gig or rehearsal. Now I’m mostly just keeping them so it’s easier to sell the guitars, if I ever do. (I’m going to buy a double gigbag so I can take two guitars to gigs and then the cases will really be just taking up space.)

I don’t use mine at all. Even for road work I take gig bags. Hardshell cases are absolutely useless to me. I’d use one if I had to check a guitar for a flight, or if my gear was being stowed in a trailer or under a bus. That’s it. And at this point in my life and career, the chances of either of those happening again gets slimmer by the day. You hit the nail on the head. The only reason I keep them at all is future resale value.

I agree. It’s got a weird melty/shrinky-dink thing going on with the body that I can’t quite put my finger on.

I was really thinking I wanted to try one, but once I took a closer look and saw that it’s got front and back contours, I’m solidly out. I can’t do a T style body with contours. They make the whole guitar sit completely wrong on a strap. Tele ergonomics (or the lack thereof) are kind of a thing for me. I’m used to a certain feel when I strap one on, and contours render that feel and guitar position impossible.

Haven't played one; all PRS play very well. But I'm not interested in these at all because I already have a Tele and don't need a slightly modified copy by PRS.

I’d play one before you say that. I haven’t tried one of these, but after owning probably close to 200 Strats, I can say definitively that my Silver Sky is a totally different instrument.

If I liked teles with contours I’d be headed out for a test drive. Solely based on how different my SS is from all of the Strats I owned.

Same here. PRS doesn’t move the needle for me with the Silver Sky or the NF 53. It’s PRS take on classic designs, grabbing a piece of that market and that’s fine.
As for the gig bag vs the hard case, the bag takes up less space and is easier to access. Hard cases are good when you need extra protection. I purchased gig bags for most my instruments and that’s how I store them. The cases are in the garage, taking up space.
