With our first gig since Mar 20 coming up, I thought that I'd check out my suit jacket. We play wearing suits and hats, you see. Unfortunately, my suit jacket appeared to have become 'distressed'. I remember it being in a bit of a state last time out and thinking that the sweat will rinse it out. However, this appeared to not be the case. It was decidedly sticky to the touch, and all round less than the quality our audience deserve.

I hung it up in the garden and hosed it down. Being the cheap nylon suit that it is, it dripped dry in just a couple of hours and is raring to go and surely has another ten years left in it. It still smells a bit funky janky, but then so do I.

As they say, fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

Hilarious!
In my wedding band days I had to “suit up”.
I’m a peasant, and I feel like an imposter in a suit.
I should add that the R&B wedding band I played in for ten years, Hot Wax, was not exactly busy.
Six gigs a year was average.
It was a good band, but old guys playing old music may have had it’s day.
I digress.
Every couple of gigs, I’d get my thrift store suits dry cleaned.
YRMV.

As long as you aren't wearing your bands shirt under that jacket.

Wearing your own bands shirt on stage says only one thing to me

Mitch said it best
This shirt says dry clean only

which means

it's dirty

I'm having a hard time visualizing this. I think we need a picture.

Here's the latest sluice down

. As you can see, the dog goes mad for the hosepipe.

Amigos, I was driving home tonight after the gig and I thought 'Blimey, it stinks worse than the dogs bed. Again.'

I think that it's time for the hosepipe again. Well, that will please the dog.

I have never even heard of a nylon suit before.
They are traditionally worn by The Accused in court on a Monday morning around these parts. Static electricity can be a bit of an issue. A cracking gig, translated is a great gig. A crackling gig is one where there is a nylon carpet that interacts with the cheap suit leading to hair standing on end and you give electric shocks to everyone you get near to.

Nylon suit? I never heard of such a thing. I wore nylon socks in high school in the ‘60s and my feet always smelled funky. Maybe it’s the nylon? Get yourself an off the rack suit in a wool blend. It won’t stink and the moths will have no interest in it.

I think it's good to look the part, but I find any jacket too hot to play in. That could be just me though.

I always get hot wearing a jacket and hat, but I've got used to it after all of these years. I just have to remember to take a couple of litres of water so I don't get too dehydrated. I always sweat buckets anyway.
