+ a whole bunch. Jeff was such a great talent.

And he played what felt good in his hands, to him that was a MIJ Squier. I agree, old Squiers are great.

Thanks for posting the most excellent video.

Annie Clark - great guitarist who plays a cheap Silvertone

Annie Clark aka St. Vincent is one of the more accomplished modern alternative guitarists and her "go to" guitar is a Silvertone (i.e. Harmony). Of course she uses a huge amount of effects pedals to get her signature Adrien Belew type tones.

    Here she is on Letterman:

Andy Scott of The Sweet plays a red Squier Strat with upgraded pickups. he's had it for years & only recently had a custom (Thompson) neck put on it that he was given.

He also had a Washburn AE, but doesn't now, he gave it to me. :D

I saw Duke Robbilard years ago (in the 1990s) in a small club and was surprised to see him playing a squire strat. At that time, I had just sold my Japanese strat to buy a "real" USA one (which never sounded as good)!

Justin Hayward of the Moddy Blues plays among his really famous ES335, a white 80's era Fender Squire Strat:

    http://justinhaywardguitar.com/1964-stratocaster/

"I’ve had Strats since – I have a Blackie and another cheaper one, and of course the white Squire Strat that I use on the road that is a surprisingly good and clean sounding guitar. But on the ’64 the action was low and fine – whoever set it up did a perfect job – and it was (surprisingly for a Strat) even, over all the strings. It was infinitely forgiving and playing it was like being in a beautiful dream of Strat heaven."

I disagree. A cheap guitar can have intonation issues, action issues, and just not feel as good. There are plenty of cheap amps that still sound good, especially to untrained ears.

Lots of Dano's in this thread. I have a red 12 string for sale if anyone is interested. Better GFS pickups, concentric pots, overall excellent condition with only light swirls on the body from playing. No scratches or pickguard wear - I don't play with a pick. Also, it is the second generation Korean build with the all black neck and butterbean Gotoh tuners. A Rick-like 12 string at a Dano (and less than new) price if anyone is interested.

Justin Townes Earl plays The Loar guitars.

I saw Lucero recently and the guy was playing an Epiphone Sheraton. I saw a rig rundow with him and he said he likes them because if one breaks he can just go buy a new one anywhere. He keeps them stock.
