From Mother Russia (with love?)...a 29 year old, minty Nagant cap pistol, with it's original carton. $32.90 with free shipping? Should show up in early-mid March.

Probably better made than an original Nagant...

I dunno, I've owned two of those things, and they seemed decently built. The problem with the Nagant revolver is that they barely have the power to put your eye out.

Do they still make those rolls of caps? That's a smell from childhood that just reentered my consciousness...

I think it's smart the way they put huge day-glo orange tips on toy guns nowadays. Too many kids have been tragically shot by cops who thought their toy gun was a real gun.... Don't take it outside, I guess, would be my advice.

I saw just the title of this thread at the bottom of my screen, and knew it would be Backlund before I scrolled down.

The original Nagant was a gas-seal revolver design which greatly improved ballistics. Pretty advanced for its time.

Back in the 80s (?), they were dirt cheap...and I remember digging thru the bins to find one in shootable shape. I was shooting a lot of 32-20 Win at the time and Nagant cases can be made from 32-20 cases. I was astonished at the terrible condition of the Nagants on hand, they all looked as if they'd been made by a farrier out of wrought iron. The local gun shop had a crate or two of them and it was hard to find enough pieces to make a whole (and reasonably safe) pistol. I never bought one...but I've fired a couple of nicer ones.

They had another crate of CZ-52s and they were like a Swiss Watch in comparison to the Nagants...and were the same price! I had a ball with the CZs.

I won't take it outside, when I go outside I only carry a real one, that way there's no confusion.

Yes, it was. And because of the unique gas sealing cylinder design, it was just about the only revolver that could be effectively suppressed. Too bad it fired such a wimp of a cartridge, though.

I don't know if it was made in Russia, but I had a toy of this Soviet machine gun.

It was made out of black plastic and had some red transparent plastic in the nozzle. When you pulled the trigger it made a sound and you could see sparkles in there. I think it had a piece of flint that did that.
